Émotions fugitives I
Émotions fugitives II
Émotions fugitives III

I composed these three pieces between 2004 and 2018 for my wife, Marie, who is a cellist. Each of the three, separa- ted by six or seven years, deals with the contrasts of emotions that can turn a life upside down and that run through it like leitmotifs: love, regrets, anxiety, lost time, the deep joy of the present ... Above all, I entered the sound matter and the effervescence of the timbres, in the full sensuality of the music. Their connections are highly organic. The first piece, which idealizes the purity of love, traverses madness, suffering and fear, before reaching hope with an offbeat choir that brings to mind the harmonies of the Renaissance. For the second, I was inspired by Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde: passionate love is conveyed in expressive romantic waves. The third is a liberation, a celebration marked by deep joy. It begins on an anxious note, omnipresent in the first, which at once dissolves in the dance. In it I can also hear the folk rhythm of my origins: it is my own dance, and the one I want to share.
